The Laboratory of Cell Engineering (LCE) is a core facility established at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology
in March 2011. The facility provides services for the production of genetically modified animals and viral vectors.
We offer service to scientific and R&D institutions worldwide.

We specialize in generating transgenic mice and rats with the traditional method of pronuclear microinjection,
as well as using lentiviral vectors. Currently, we are in the process of introducing and establishing the ‘knock-out’
technology, based on embryonic stem cells manipulation. LCE assures SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) status of
created transgenic animals.

At LCE we also provide viral vector technologies. We major in the production of HIV-derived lentivectors, which
are extensively used in the scientific and medical field.

We offer other services related to transgenic animals and viral vectors, such as:

  • Expertise and technical assistance regarding tissue specific promoters selection,
  • Projecting, cloning and preparing constructs for further transgenesis/viral vector production,
confirming the expression by in vitro assays,
  • Rederivation service (by embryo transfer),
  • Genotyping, determining transgene copy number in created transgenic lines,
  • Titer analysis of viruses (Real-Time PCR),
  • Experiments with created viral vectors (e.g. development of stable cell lines by use of lentiviral vectors).
